I'm going to be away for a little while since I've got three papers due within the next week and all within a couple of days from each other. So I thought I'd leave you with sort of a screensaver post with things that make me happy - puppies, kitties, and Antoine Doinel - in the off-chance that you'll accidentally stumble back here, you can still leave with an "Awwwwwwww." Two out of three of the things here are universally heartwarming, at least. And if puppies and kittens don't make you happy, well, I don't think we were meant to be friends.
Have a good week!

Screensaver
Dilly-dally doodle

Perusing the What I Wore Today drawings of the Flickr group and blog made me do this last night. The only time I ever doodle is when I'm in class and seeing that I've been taking online classes for almost two years now, it's safe to say that I haven't drawn anything in years. And when I did doodle, it would be mostly square houses and transparent 3-D cubes, with the occasional kitty face so this was actually a daunting task (please excuse the barbaric hands and the fact that I don't know how to make myself look more like a girl).
Nothing special about the outfit - it's just my usual uniform of a tucked-in button-up and skinnies but I did get my new prescription Buddy Holly-esque wayfarers! And this is exactly what I look like with them on.

The First
December 1st, already.
Although my family hardly celebrates Christmas now that we kids are all grown up, I still like to make wishlists.
I always want more books, even though I haven't read about 80-85% of my personal library. I just like to think that I'll always have something to read so if I ever find myself with nothing to do, on house arrest, or just itching to read something new, I'm set.
Looking to stock my wardrobe with more basics. This is an ongoing task as I'm sure I've mentioned it more than once here before. Finding good basics in thrift stores is surprisingly difficult. As aforementioned, I'm taking all my how-to-dress-nicely-with-basics cues entirely from Margaret Howell.
What I'd really love, though, ("more than anything in the world" says my inner child wistfully) is a dog.

Even though I've expressed my love for cats here before, I was born a dog person, checking out reference books and pet guides from the library when I was a kid. But now having a dog means more to me than just a cuddly companion (this is the primary reason, however). Having a dog will mean that I'd have moved out of my parent's house, living somewhere semi-permanent (preferably in a house, perhaps with my boyfriend), and it would mean that I'd actually have the financial means to properly take care of a dog - a job, possibly even a career.
Happy December! What are you wishing for?

Music Monday: THE B-52'S

Do not doubt the power of a good B-52's song. Forget "Love Shack," if you've never heard their 1979 self-titled album, boy, you don't even know.

Video Sunday: MUPPETS SING "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY"
The coolest thing I've seen all week (on YouTube, that is).
